The world is home to a variety of fascinating animal species. From zebras to elephants and lions, Earth’s wildlife never ceases to amaze us. However, due to the enormity and diversity of the world, many of us are left browsing the internet or sitting in front of televisions staring in awe of the beauty and magnificence of these beings.

Since the introduction of the first real zoo, established by Queen Hatshepsut in 1500 B.C. in Egypt, humans have been able to get closer to exotic animals to witness their real-life grander. In fact, zoos have not only been an attraction but salvation for many endangered animal species.

As you may know, America has always strived to establish some of the best zoos in the world. By rescuing and constructing the best dominions for a number of rare and exotic animals, the United States has been recognized as holding not only the best, but the most intricate wildlife parks. 10. Fort Worth Zoo (Fort Worth, Texas)

The Fort Worth Zoo was established in 1909 with a single lion, coyote, peacock, alligator, a few rabbits and two bears. The park even has an air-conditioned monorail to provide an easy mode of transportation to each section in the park.

8. Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Garden (Columbia, South Carolina)

The Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Garden is home to over 2,000 animals on 170-acres and contains one of America’s most attractive botanical gardens. The wildlife park features some of the most intricate and scenic exhibits providing visitors with an eye-catching and educational display of the most exotic animals. In fact, this zoo was twice awarded the Governor’s Cup for South Carolina’s Most Outstanding Tourist Attraction.

7. Denver Zoo (Denver, Colorado)

The 80-acre Denver Zoo was founded in 1896 and features a variety of famous exhibits including Bear Mountain, Primate Panorama, Monkey Island, Predator Ridge, Bird World and much more. Bear Mountain is one of the most well-known exhibits in the wildlife park featuring grizzly bears, Asiatic black bears, and coati. If you can think of an exotic species, the Denver Zoo probably has it. They also have exciting events including Zoo Lights, a famous occasion where the zoo is decorated with lights during the holidays.

6. Memphis Zoo (Memphis, Tennessee)

The 76 acre Memphis Zoo was created in April 1906 and has grown to house more than 3,500 animals (500 species). This wildlife park houses exhibits that have been accurately constructed to imitate their animals’ natural habitats including Cat Country, Primate Canyon, Once Upon a Farm, Dragon’s Liar and more. This zoo also is a world leader in conservation science and biological research to ensure that the animals are healthy and have the best quality of life.
